What I Offer
I’m a coach and facilitator based in Sheffield. My development is all about helping people give and get the most from their working lives. The coaching work I do helps individuals to enhance skills and confidence in leadership, management, career and personal effectiveness. My training involves designing and delivering engaging, practical workshops to boost interpersonal and management skills. My facilitation enables groups to work more effectively together.
Who I Work With
I enjoy working with individuals at different stages in their careers and want help with:
- carving out a career path
- performing effectively in job interviews
- dealing with change (redundancy, retirement, returning to work after having children)
- taking stock of their career and identifying a more fulfilling future career/job
I work with a wide range of organisations, including universities, SMEs, public sector organisations and charities.

My Career to Date
I set up Lucy Owens Coaching in 2011. Before that, I was a development manager/adviser in the Development and Wellbeing team in HR at Sheffield Hallam University. Whilst there, I designed and delivered a wide range of leadership and team development interventions and offered leadership and performance coaching. Between 2000 and 2005, I was a learning and development consultant for BBC People. I worked as an internal executive coach and developed and delivered workshops for the award-winning BBC leadership development programme with Ashridge Business School.
Prior to this, I delivered a number of journalism training projects for the BBC World Service Trust – working in Bosnia, Hungary, Equatorial Guinea, Czech Republic and Indonesia.
From 1993-2000, I was a BBC radio producer – for BBC World Service and Radio Sheffield. I also produced radio documentaries for the BBC Millennium Oral History project. These are now held at the British Library Sound Archive.
My Qualifications and Professional Development
I have regular coaching supervision, I’m a member of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC), I’ve done a series of ILM Level 7 Executive Coaching and Mentoring workshops, I have a Certificate in NLP (INLPTA), a Counselling Certificate, a Postgraduate Diploma in Radio and TV Journalism and a BA Hons in Modern Languages (French, Spanish and Portuguese) from the University of Sheffield.
I really enjoy my work, but as I’m married and have two children, I strive to strike a balance between work and family life.
